Hello all,
Especially Matt and Celine but for two reasons... firstly because you're currently running around Geneva like mad things with all the training, campaigning and lobbying (after much Plane-ing, Training and Automobiling around Europe) at the UN... but secondly because I have surprise for you - as part of my initiative to get YWN members interested in what Y Care is doing and to introduce them to staff and other members you two lucky people have been chosen to be put under the spotlight for the March YWN Newsletter Interview! (cue - fireworks and groans). Don't worry, this is no Paxman affair - simply a chance to sit down for 10 mins and chat about who you are and what you do, provided of course that you're cool with it?
Very kindly, Amanda McWilliams has agreed to be interviewed for April's newsletter/update and I'm planning to offer £50 each to YMCAs of the first three youth workers to offer their lives and work up to the microscope to kickstart some Networking in the first few months of the financial year.
Belfast was great and was brilliant to meet up with Michele, TJ and their newest team member, Jonny to discuss what's been going on over there. Michele mentioned coming to one of our team meetings but unfortunately cannot make Skipton. Speaking of which, I have looked at costs of taking train and it works out better if we drive, which I don't mind doing provided I have company and good CDs. Music suggestions in the comment box please... (Gemma has a head start on you, with us driving to Annual Conference in a few weeks)
Anyhoo, other than these crazy ideas I'm looking forward to coming over to Geneva (I'm looking at getting some live chat going on over the t'interweb while I'm around - if possible?!), bracing myself for Newcastle with Nicky (only joking Nicky!) and prepping for DFID next Friday by reading through far too many white papery thingys. Madness, it seems, is spreading.
P.S. Read the Boy in the Striped Pjamas during the flights to/from Belfast - fantastic book, highly recommended and thanks to the ridiculous tube trip back from Heathrow (Osterly is actually Westerly for those who care) I'm half way through "The White Tiger", which is also excellent and recommended for anyone who has been to or is interested in India.
Anyway, enough book club, cheers!
